Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 4,577 deaths and 300,462 cases of infection by the new coronavirus, with 75,008 cases already active, 5,606 less than on Monday.

Regarding hospital admissions, the epidemiological bulletin of the DGS reveals that 3,275 people are hospitalized, 67 less than yesterday, of which 521 are in intensive care, less four.

Of the 72 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 43 occurred in the northern region, 11 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 13 in the Centro region, three in Alentejo, two in the Algarve.

According to the bulletin, more than half of the new contagion cases were registered in the North (1,300), totaling 157,785 cases and 2,182 deaths since March.

In Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 538 new cases of contagion were registered, being the second region with the most cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with a total of 99,061 and 1,623 deaths.

The Central region registered 349 more cases, with a total of 30,025 and 582 deaths.

In Alentejo, 129 new infections were recorded, with a total of 6,287 and 119 deaths.

The Algarve region has reported 48 new cases of infection today, with a total of 5,351 cases and 51 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The Azores registered 17 new cases (a total of 1,039) and Madeira 20 new infections, for a total of 914.

Since March, there have been 17 deaths in the Azores and two in Madeira.

The DGS also says that health authorities have 79,963 contacts under surveillance, 1,514 fewer than Monday, and that 7,935 more patients have been reported as recovered, out of a cumulative total of 220,877 since the start of the pandemic.

In the bulletin, the General Health Directorate indicates that on November 16 an update of the data analysis technology system of SINAVE (National Epidemiological Surveillance System) was carried out, updating the accumulated number of confirmed and recovered cases to that date. .

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 133,581 men and 162,700 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

Today’s bulletin indicates that there are 5,181 confirmed cases of unknown genders that are under investigation, as this data is not automatically released.

Of the total fatalities, 2,379 were men and 2,198 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.
