Portugal crossed, for the first time, the barrier of two thousand cases of infection by the new coronavirus every day. In the last 24 hours, 2,072 additional cases and seven deaths were confirmed from the covid-19 pandemic. According to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Health Directorate (DGS) this Wednesday (October 14), in total, since the pandemic began, 91,193 infected, 54,493 recovered (more than 446), 2,117 deaths have been registered in the country.

At this time, there are 34583 active Portuguese patients to be monitored by health authorities, 1 619 more than yesterday. Of these, 97% are recovering “in a home environment,” reported Health Minister Marta Temido at a press conference.

The majority of those infected in the last 24 hours are in the North region (more than 1001 – 48.3% of the total) and in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (802 – 38.7%). They are followed by the center (172 more), Alentejo (47), Algarve (42), Azores (five) and Madeira (three).
