Spain, directed by Luis Enrique, was much better in the first part. Pressing very early and far ahead, the Spanish team gave Portugal little room to play. After two minutes, Gerard Moreno beat Rúben Semedo (debutant) and saw Rui Patrício make a great save.

Shortly after, Rodrigo Moreno approved the different spaces that the Portuguese team gave at the entrance of the area and shot to the side. Olmo, very excited by the Spanish attack, also tried his luck but the Portuguese goalkeeper was on his way. Something that happened shortly after, which stopped the new shot of Rodrigo (ex Benfica).

Close to 20 minutes, the passivity of the Portuguese defense almost led to the Spanish goal. Inside the small area, Gerard Moreno shot hard, but the ball went wide. The Portuguese team’s first shot came just after 26 minutes, with Renato Sanches trying from mid-range, over the top.

Even before the break, Portugal had a good chance to score, but Raphael Guerreiro kicked the ball over Kepa’s goal.

The second part took William Carvalho and Bernardo Silva to the Portuguese eleven. With the Betis de Sevilla player on the pitch, Portugal improved and at minute 53, Cristiano Ronaldo was close to the goal. Portentous shot from the Portuguese captain to Kepa’s goalpost that saw the ball still stuck near the goal line.

About 70 minutes, great offensive transition for Portugal. Cristiano Ronaldo spotted Renato Sanches with a trivela and the Lille midfielder hit the ball first, again with a big shot off the post from Kepa, who was hit again. A few minutes later, a great defense by Rui Patrício to stop Dani Olmo’s intentions already inside the Portuguese area.

Trincão saw Kepa make a great save, in a Portuguese attack led by João Félix. The Atlético de Madrid forward even had a great opportunity to open the scoring in a discount period but failed to amend the Spanish goal.

Spain better in the first 45 minutes, Portugal better in the second half. Balance in the Iberian derby that ended without goals, in a match that had 2,500 spectators at the Alvalade Stadium.
