The situation, adds the municipality, has been monitored from the beginning, both by the Águas do Porto Occupational Health and Safety Team and by the competent public health entities.

“Preventively”, the company decided to adopt “the measure of prophylactic isolation for 40 workers, following the guidelines of the DGS”.

The information was initially provided by the Local Administration Workers’ Union (STAL), which revealed that the covid-19 outbreak in Águas do Porto killed one and ten infected people.

Speaking to Lusa, the director of STAL Porto, Eduardo Ferreira, said that the worker who died on Tuesday belonged to the commercial department in attention to the public.

According to Eduardo Ferreira, at this time the union is aware that there are still 50 waiting for the results of the covid-19 detection tests.

To Lusa, STAL also revealed that it had already requested, by letter sent to Águas do Porto on Wednesday, updated information on the outbreak in the municipal company that concerns workers.

Another of STAL’s demands was related to access control in assistance services, a measure that, according to the union, was only implemented on Wednesday.

On Friday, questioned by Lusa, about several complaints of positive cases of covid-19 in municipal companies, specifically in the municipal company of culture and sports, the municipality said that it is false that any administrator of Ágora has tested positive.

According to the municipality, there is a worker who has tested positive, having followed the protocol and contacted health line 24, who is in prophylactic isolation as determined by the Health Delegate.
