Police mega-operation against drug trafficking in Guimarães

In the year of its 18th birthday, the Waste Recovery Center (CVR), a technological interface center located on the UMINHO campus in Guimarães, receives funding from the European Union of more than 500 thousand euros , was announced today.

The main objective of the CVR.TechRe4C project is to strengthen CVR’s laboratory and applied research capacity, equipping it with technologically advanced techno-scientific equipment and adapting its infrastructures.

In a statement, said center says it wants to increase the number of services it provides and improve, “even more”, the response of the services currently offered.

“These investments are essential to train the entity in the following areas of activity: technologies for material, energy and biological recovery; eco-efficiency and sustainability of resources and materials; digitization and industry 4.0 and circular economy ”, says the entity.

By reinforcing these areas, the CVR.TechRe4C project “promotes applied research and the development of links and synergies between companies and institutions that carry out activities and culminate in the development of products and services with significant added value for the market and the environment. environment”.

“Likewise, there will be an affirmation and promotion of regional, national and international innovation, as well as for the consolidation of research activities in the northern region of Portugal”, says the note.

CVR.TechRe4C is funded by the European Union through Portugal 2020 and in the North 2020 area. Of the total eligible amount of 644,861.12 euros, 548,131.95 comes from the European Regional Development Fund.

CVR – Waste Recovery Center, with 18 years of existence, is a Technological Interface Center located in Guimarães, on the Campus of the University of Minho. It has a 2000m2 laboratory in its headquarters building and is dedicated to research, scientific analysis and application of real solutions in the area of ​​waste prevention and recovery. With 85 members mostly from industry, CVR organizes the international scientific conference “WASTE: Solutions, Treatments and Opportunities” every two years, attended by more than 1200 participants from 45 countries in its 5 editions. Since its inception, CVR has participated in more than 120 applied R&D projects, corresponding to a financing volume of around 5.2 million euros.
