The young people took refuge in the classroom but were arrested. One had already participated in acts against the PSP.
Two policemen were beaten after approaching a group of students outside a school in Amadora. The young people, all minors, fled inside the school but ended up in detention. One has recently been involved in acts of violence against police officers and uses social media to harass police officers, the PSP said.
The case occurred on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Several neighbors alerted police officers about a group of young people who allegedly used drugs in front of a school on Avenida João Paulo II. At the scene, the two officers questioned about 10 youths. The group rebelled against the approach and demanded satisfaction from the police for being the target.
Attacked PSP and fled
Tempers flared and two of the minors attacked the police, and then fled to school with two other classmates.
After the arrival of reinforcements, it was possible to surround the school and locate the suspects, who had taken refuge in a classroom. The four young men, aged between 16 and 18, were identified and detained. The two police officers who were the target of the attacks were transferred to the Fernando da Fonseca Hospital, having been subjected to various examinations.
One of the students was taken to hospital, complaining of pain in his arm. The PSP emphasizes that this minor “was recently involved in acts of violence against police officers in the Via Militar and often uses social networks to harass the police.”
