PJ investigates death of man found tied up in bathtub

ORA man was found dead, in a “scene of alleged terror”, this Sunday, inside his house, in Caniço, Madeira island, the Jornal da Madeira (JM) advances.

According to the regional publication, the Santa Cruz Fire Department, as well as the PSPThey were called to the scene, but when a crime was suspected, they called the Judicial Police (PJ).

Authorities have been at the scene since 6 pm. The PJ has not yet confirmed that it is a crime, however, the JM says that the possibilities of homicide and suicide are not ruled out.

The alert for the incident was given by a nephew of the 62-year-old man, found in the bathtub, tied up and, according to JM, “with clear signs of having suffered a violent death.”

Subsequently, authorities discovered that the victim’s vehicle was not in its usual location and, so far, has not yet been found.

According to the same newspaper, the man, “known in the area for being a cordial and affable person, is quite popular in Caniço, which ends, in the opinion of residents, for further deepening the mystery.”

As for Lusa, the regional coordinator of the PJ, Ricardo Weaver, confirmed the investigation, but did not provide further details.
