The suspect in the death of Ricardo Jaquité on Seixal street turned himself in to the PSP after almost two weeks on the run. Later he was arrested by the PJ, who had been looking for him since the day of the crime, but the inspectors, as JN discovered, chose not to justify the reasons for the murder of the former Sporting athlete with a knife.

The 24-year-old suspect had a criminal record for the same type of crime, although there were no fatalities. He has already been referred for attempted murder, with a knife and threats with a firearm.

Ricardo Jaquité, an athlete who excelled in the triple jump, died on December 2 at night at the García de Orta Hospital, in Almada, after a stabbing on João Martins Bandeira Street, in the Arrentela neighborhood, Seixal. The warning was given at 6:58 p.m. on Wednesday.

The PSP came to the site after complaints that described conflicts between two groups with various elements. The initial complaint did not account for what really happened, since the investigation found that the conflicts involved only the aggressor and the victim, former friends, who had, at the time of the discussion, some neighbors around them.

During the conflict, two or three tried to separate the aggressor from the victim, but without success.

Born in Seixal, Ricardo Jaquité represented Cavadas, Pinhalnovense, Casa do Benfica de Faro, Young Worker of Monte Abraão, Sporting and Sporting de Braga and came to represent Portugal in the European Team in 2017.

At the moment without a club, he was suspended for having tested positive in a doping control in 2018 and could return to competition on February 10 next year.

Death has already been declared at the García de Orta Hospital in Almada.
