The Union of Workers of the Offices, Commerce and Services of Portugal (CESP) denounces pressure on the workers of the Pingo Doce stores in relation to the opening of stores at 6:30 am next Saturdays and Sundays.

Speaking to TSF, union leader Filipa Costa revealed that Pingo Doce workers will no longer be paid to open stores earlier this weekend. Only two more hours will be counted for the workers’ hour bank.

“There is always contempt for workers, and we are talking about two more hours a day at zero cost, because they go to the bank for hours,” disputes Filipa Costa, underlining that this is a “concern” for the union.

The union attacks the Pingo Doce hypermarkets, which it says were “pioneers in the matter of deregulation of schedules”, so CESP is not surprised that it is also the first “to advance with this type of measure.”

“We know that Pingo Doce is now carrying out a campaign for a 50% discount on toys, we know that there is all the benefit of opening the store for a few more hours, at no cost to the company, and it is only profit,” says Filipa Costa. .
