The Communist Party (PCP) affirmed this Monday that the final opinion issued by the General Directorate of Health (DGS) is, in “various areas”, more demanding, such as the health standards that must be met at the Festa do Avante than with other initiatives . The communists guarantee that the opinion of the DGS recognizes the security conditions of the Festa do Avante and guarantees to launch a contingency plan at the end of this Monday.
“The DGS opinion contains, in various domains, levels of demand in relation to the Festival higher than what is established for other initiatives, particularly in the capacity and capacity of the fixed spaces and spaces, which contrasts so much with the shows that are taking place. taking place in the country, as with the book fairs that are currently taking place in Lisbon and Oporto, or with other initiatives “, indicates the PCP, in a statement sent to the newsrooms.
Without revealing the opinion of the health authorities, the PCP adds that, in its content, the document issued by the DGS “reflects the knowledge that the Festa do Avante meets security conditions, equal to or higher than those available in the frequency from the beaches, in the many shows and festivals that take place throughout the country or simply by going to shopping centers ”.
The party headed by Jerónimo de Sousa guarantees that the recommendations of the DGS will be accepted and that the Contingency Plan presented by the PCP – which will still be released today – complies with and respects the set of regulations in force. “The Festa do Avante, a responsible act organized with the highest demand for protection that the PCP does not neglect and promote, is a contribution to affirm well-being, health and enjoyment of life,” he says.
“In the preparation of the Festa do Avante, in its political and cultural dimension, the set of measures was respected in the multiplicity of organizational procedures within the framework of current legal provisions, based on criteria of requirements consciously assumed, as has been proven in all the initiatives that the PCP has carried out ”, say the communists.
The PCP adds, in a statement, that it has sought, in conjunction with the health entities, namely the DGS, to ensure compliance with all the prevention and safety measures recommended for the celebration of the Festa do Avante, underlining that this it has been a “particular requirement that the PCP put in place from the beginning to guarantee the indispensable conditions of prevention and protection”.
The party also considers that the celebration of the Festa do Avante is being the object of a “gigantic reactionary operation”, with a view to “attacking the PCP” and, above all, “opening the way to limit the exercise of the rights and freedoms of workers and people, that is, the right to resist the liquidation of their rights as seen with the campaign against May 1 ”.
“The scale of the offensive against the PCP requires a response. A response that each member of the party and all those who value democratic values must assume, marking their presence in the Party from the beginning. The Festa do Avante is scheduled for September 4, 5 and 6, in Quinta da Atalaia, in the municipality of Seixal, and will have strict health security measures. This year, the Festa do Avante, which marks the annual income of the PCP, will have an available area of 30 thousand square meters (ten thousand more than in the previous edition) and will have a capacity limited to 33 thousand people per day (one third of authorized capacity).
