A man was arrested at Kannur International Airport in Kerala, India, after airport officials found 972 grams of gold hidden in his anus.

According to the newspaper New York Post, the man was detained because officials suspected the way he was walking and decided to search him. In the process, they ended up discovering gold bars, valued at around 50,000 euros. The man had made the trip from Dubai to Kerala on a GoAir flight. According to the authorities, the man’s goal was to avoid paying the mandatory 18% tax.

This was not the only passenger with hidden gold on the flight from Dubai. According to another post, airport officials also found 1,470 grams of gold with another passenger who took the same flight. However, authorities did not explain where the gold was hidden.

Several Indian airports had already seized gold bars between 300 grams and 3 kilograms hidden in capsules or in passenger underwear.
