Some two hundred young people gathered this afternoon of Sunday August 30 at the Jardim do Morro, in Vila Nova de Gaia, after a socialization at the end of the scheduled day through social networks. The party, which took place without social distancing and without masks, culminated in several fights between young people that led to police intervention starting at 9 pm, culminating in an arrest and several identified persons.
Before the police action, the young people began to “stone themselves with bottles and stones” under the agents, as revealed by PSP do Porto to the newspaper “Público”. However, none of the officers are known to have been injured.
The same cannot be said of the several young people who entered into contempt, which resulted in several injuries, one of whom, aged 19, was even transferred to the Gaia Hospital, according to the “Correio da Manhã”.
In social networks In Jardim do Morro, several images of young people were shared, in which the violence of the clashes can be seen, the motive of which is still unknown.
Meetings are still limited due to COVID-19 and according to the Directorate General of Health (DGS) the use of a mask is recommended whenever it is not possible to maintain a safety distance.
