Teenager took out the commandos and the microlight crashed at the Beja airfield.

The Supreme Court of Justice has just ordered a pilot to pay 10,695 euros in compensation to the family of a 14-year-old girl, injured after an accident with an ultralight, in Beja. The same court also ordered the minor’s parents to pay compensation of 2,414 euros to the pilot who, like the young woman, was injured by the aircraft accident in 2015 ”. presumably guilty: of the pilot and of the parents ”, emphasize the judges.

The accident occurred while the aircraft was preparing to take off. Sitting next to the pilot, the girl, who was doing her baptism of flight, pulled one of the two controls used to fly the device. An action that caused the plane to spiral out of control and hit the ground. The impact was violent and seriously injured the 66-year-old pilot and the teenager. The consequences were not only more tragic, as both were removed from the interior of the plane before it began to burn.

Appealed parties

The girl’s parents, who saw everything, considered that the accident was the pilot’s fault and demanded his conviction in court. The defendant denied responsibility and also appealed to justice to be compensated for the damages suffered. The first sentence acquitted the two parties who, dissatisfied, appealed to the Évora Court of Appeal. Here, the decision was to convict the parents and the pilot, which has now been confirmed by the Supreme Court.
