The National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof) released, on Friday, a list of 140 schools in the country that registered positive cases of Covid-19 in the current school year, which includes five of the municipalities of Paços de Ferreira and Lousada.
In the Capital of Furniture, according to the information published on the Fenprof page, there have been cases of contagion in the school community of Paços de Ferreira High School, already informed by IMEDIATO, and in Freamunde Basic and Secondary School.
In the municipality of Lousada, in the federative list, the Lustosa School Center, a EB 2.3 / Secondary of Lustosa It’s in Lousada High School.
However, IMEDIATO also reported the appearance of two positive cases of Covid-19 in the Penafiel High School, which is not part of the national list.
School communities are “discriminated against”
Fenprof also denounced the “discrimination” inherent in the policy of not taking tests when positive cases of Covid-19 appear in a school.
“If there are asymptomatic infected people, they are not identified, with the risks that this entails for the school community and for families. In the specific case of teachers, even when there is a class or classes to be quarantined, they have to stay at work without taking any tests, “denounced the federation.
For Fenprof, the “treatment given to schools contrasts sharply with what happens in other areas, such as sport, where there are very tight protocols”, and in schools there are classes with thirty students “in a closed space and not always well ventilated, the distance, in most cases, is a few centimeters, the use of a mask is only mandatory from the age of eleven ”.
The teachers’ federation has been updating the list of schools with positive cases, which can be consulted here, and a platform is also available for teachers to raise concerns, doubts and complaints about COVID-19 in schools.
