The British University of Oxford said on Saturday it would resume clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine after it was stopped after a UK volunteer suffered an adverse reaction.

In a statement, the University of Oxford said that evidence for the vaccine, dubbed ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 and developed in conjunction with pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, will resume in the UK after a break on September 6, as a precautionary measure.

The tests of the Oxford vaccine that Portugal will receive have been suspended

This possible vaccine, considered one of the most advanced developed worldwide, is in the final stage of clinical trials, before receiving authorization from regulatory bodies to proceed with the immunization of the population.

At the end of August, the EU signed “a first contract” with the British pharmaceutical AstraZeneca, which guaranteed access to 300 million doses of the vaccine, so the suspension of the trials has raised serious concern worldwide.
