The Santarém District Hospital confirmed this Tuesday, October 20, the presence of a covid-19 outbreak with a total of 15 infected professionals.
Among the infected professionals, ten are nurses, three operating assistants, a doctor and a technical assistant. In addition to the infected professionals, the hospital unit currently has 27 patients admitted with covid-19: 25 of them in a dedicated ward and two in an intensive care unit.
In a statement sent to the newsrooms, the Board of Directors of the Santarém District Hospital affirms that “after a health professional from the Medical Service was identified as positive for covid-19”, screening tests were carried out on “all the contacts of risk, as defined in the contingency plan of this hospital ”.
The same note adds that this morning a “deep decontamination of the physical spaces involved and the reorganization and distribution of nursing teams and hospitalized patients” was carried out, measures aimed at “guaranteeing everyone’s safety and maintaining the quality of the patients.
