A man was killed this Tuesday afternoon in a shootout with the Republican National Guard (GNR) near the Fernão Ferro Intermarché, in Seixal. Two soldiers were shot.

The man, who had an arrest warrant for drug trafficking, was approached by the GNR and fired at one of the soldiers. The suspect was accompanied by a woman, who was injured.

The Observer discovered, at 11:30 pm on Tuesday, that the forensics were carried out by the PJ. The police fence, scheduled to last two to three hours, does not have time to finish and, according to GNR, it should “take time.”

The soldiers of the Guard approached the suspect, who was accompanied by a woman, who reacted and fired at one of the soldiers, after an exchange of fire, “read a statement from the GNR.

Currently medical assistance is provided to the military and women. The hospital where the injured went is not yet known.

The GNR also advances that in situ “various means of the Territorial Command of Setúbal and the Intervention Unit (UI) are mobilized.” A man was also arrested for resistance and duress.
