The 50-year-old left Benfica at the end of the decade and a half, with streaks in the Under-16s, Under-17s and Under-19s.

Paiva was coach of the Reds B team since January 2019, when he replaced Bruno Lage, then promoted to A team to hand over Rui Vitória.

Along the way in the formation of Benfica, Renato Paiva helped develop many talents, including Bernardo Silva, João Cancelo, Renato Sanches, Gonçalo Guedes, João Cancelo, among others.

Luís Martins, a coach who also belonged to the Benfica squad, will be Paiva’s assistant.

Independiente del Valle, which has already announced the signing, is one of the main teams in Ecuador and in 2019 won the Copa Sudamericana, equivalent to the Europa League, having lost to Flamengo (then Jorge Jesús), champion of the Libertadores, the Recopa Sudamericana in February of this year.
