The Asian team holds the games in preparation for the World Cup in 2022.
The FPF confirmed this Tuesday, shortly after being informed by O JOGO, that Portugal will play two games with the Qatar team included in the Group A schedule of the European qualification for the 2022 World Cup.
The federation clarifies that, of course, the games will serve to prepare Qatar for the World Cup, also remembering what happened with France, when it integrated the Portugal group in the qualification for the European ‘2016. Portugal’s first match against Qatar will be on September 4, 2021, as a visitor, welcoming the current Asian champion on October 9, 2021.
The inclusion of Qatar in the Portugal group is the result of an invitation from UEFA, which allowed the selection of the host country for the 2020 World Cup to hold preparatory games, explained the FPF.
