Of the 403 codes generated, only 113 were used

Portugal today reached the worst record in terms of new infections since the beginning of the pandemic. In just 24 hours, the epidemiological bulletin released today by the General Health Directorate revealed another 1,646 new cases of COVID-19. Portugal has so far registered more than 85,500 new cases and has recovered more than 52,800.

The pandemic is growing significantly in Portugal and people are not helping to combat the chains of transmission. Of the 430 codes that were generated, only 113 people indicated in the app that they were infected with COVID-19.

Since the STAY AWAY application was launched, various channels, including Pplware, have helped publicize the application and how it works.  Although it is very simple, thousands of people still do not understand precisely how the application works and even have some fear in its installation. In that sense, much more needs to be done to make the app really useful.  It was important to show on television how everything works, thus also helping to clarify some “fake news”.
Of the 430 codes that physicians generated for patients who indicated they are infected, only 113 were voluntarily entered into the app.  It is not very clear why users do not use codes, even because anonymity is guaranteed.  Speaking to Expresso, Rui Oliveira, administrator of INESC TEC, says that so far between 3,500 and 3,600 codes should have been created for StayAway.



				
			



				
			



The STAYAWAY COVID application is one of the most popular in Portugal today.  This application, whose installation is voluntary, allows to identify, quickly and anonymously and by physical proximity, the networks of contagion by COVID-19.
