Odemira firefighter commander injured in skid when crashing

The Odemira Fire Commander was seriously injured in an accident this Friday morning while on his way to assist in a traffic accident in Almograve.

Luís Oliveira, 45, was still in the Odemira Firefighters command vehicle when he got lost, around 7:20 a.m., in Boavista dos Pinheiros, at kilometer 20 of Estrada Nacional 393.

The Odemira Fire Commander was imprisoned in the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to the Portimão hospital.

In addition to the air, 22 operational vehicles and 10 vehicles were mobilized for this accident. Luís Oliveira has been the commander of the Odemira Firefighters since November 12.

The heavy rains in that region of the Alentejo coast will have contributed to the accidents, creating layers of water on the road.

Since the first accident, also an accident, registered at 6.43 am, in Almocreve, resulted in an injury considered minor. There were seven operational accidents, supported by four vehicles.
