Nine counties with more than two thousand cases per 100 thousand inhabitants

Nine counties registered more than two thousand cases of contagion for every 100 thousand inhabitants, according to the incidence rate of cases accumulated in the last 14 days.

This group is made up of the municipalities of Lousada (2,791 cases), Paços de Ferreira (2,533), Vizela (2,523), Guimarães (2,343), Freixo de Espada à Cinta (2,335), Felgueiras (2,221), Penafiel (2,108), Fafe. (2,074) and Manteigas (2,029).

The bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) shows, in the chapter of the geographical distribution of confirmed cases by municipality and based on the accumulated incidence during 14 days (from November 6 to 19) that the municipalities of Lousada and Paços de Ferreira they continue to have, as in the previous 14 days, the highest values ​​in the country.

In the explanatory note of the data by municipality, it is indicated that the accumulated incidence “corresponds to the quotient between the number of new confirmed cases in the 14 days prior to the moment of the analysis and the estimated resident population.”

Portugal has 213 municipalities with a higher risk of contagion since they have 240 additional cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, a general criterion defined by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

At the opposite end of the table is Vila Velha de Ródão and seven municipalities in Madeira and the Azores without records of any case of infection by the new coronavirus: they are Lajes das Flores, Lajes dos Pico, Madalena, Porto Moniz, Santa Cruz da Graciosa , São Vicente and Vila do Corvo.

This Monday, Portugal has 74 more deaths related to covid-19 and 4,044 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus.

Since the start of the pandemic, 3,971 deaths and 264,802 cases of contagion by the new coronavirus have been registered, with 84,004 cases being active, 62 more than on Sunday.

Regarding hospital admissions, the epidemiological bulletin of the DGS reveals that 3,241 people are hospitalized (90 more than on Sunday), 498 of which are in intensive care (seven more in the last 24 hours).
