The body of a fetus, apparently a newborn, was found by Torres Vedras firefighters in the gallery of a building located in the north of that city.

The grim discovery was made at 1:40 pm Monday, by workers preparing to begin painting the building’s facade.

Source GNR told the Lusa agency that the painters were setting up scaffolding to begin painting the exterior of the building when they noticed a “fetus still with the umbilical cord, in a state of decomposition, on one of the building’s balconies” in the neighborhood of Boavista. , in the north of the city of Torres Vedras, in the district of Lisbon.

The GNR was summoned and, as soon as they found that they were facing a possible crime of homicide, the military activated the picket line of the Judicial Police.

The same source added that it is a rented house, whose landlords were there when the GNR arrived.

According to the same source, “everything indicates that the fetus had been left on the veranda by people outside that apartment”, but now it is up to the Judicial Police to investigate.

A security perimeter is created around the building, pending the investigation.

As of 4 p.m., no suspects had been arrested for the murder.
