According to the Regional Network, a civil protection source found that the first positive case was registered on Wednesday afternoon, in an elderly man who was admitted to the Hospital de Santarém (HDS), which led to tests on 32 users and 23 employees, a total of 55 people.

The results arrived yesterday afternoon, with 13 of the 55 who tested positive, bringing the number of infected to 14: 10 users and 4 employees.

The infected employees were sent home, where they are in prophylactic isolation, while the 9 elderly people who stayed at home (the other is hospitalized in the HDS), are also isolated from the rest of the users.

Social Security, health authorities and civil protection are already preparing a joint plan to decontaminate the space which, as happened in the Fonte Serrã house, in Póvoa de Santarém, may involve the temporary retirement of older people.

NEW DECONTAMINATION IN SERRÃ FONTE

This Thursday, the 3rd, two of the 22 users who still remain in Lar Fonte Serrã were transferred to the Hospital de Santarém, where there were already 11 other users, to which 9 were added to the Abrantes unit of the Centro Hospitalar do Médio Tejo, a total of 22 hospitalized users.

It is recalled that the 18 users of that care unit for the elderly who are not infected with Covid-19 were transferred yesterday to an address in Fatima, where they will remain until the outbreak detected in the institution is resolved.

Fonte Serrã must be decontaminated again in the next few hours, an operation that is already preparing civil protection.

It should be noted that the owners of the Fonte Serrã Leisure and Rest Center, in Póvoa de Santarém, and Quinta do Valmonte, in Portela das Padeiras, have family connections.
