New case of Covid-19 in São Miguel imported from the American continent

The Regional Health Authority reports that, as a result of 1,485 analyzes carried out in the two reference laboratories of the Region in the last 24 hours, a positive case of COVID-19 was diagnosed on the island of São Miguel.

The case presents a stable clinical situation and the procedures defined for the confirmed case, the tests and surveillance of the close contacts have already been taken care of by the Municipal Health Office.

Take note of the recent departure from the Region of a positive case.

Thus, to date, 218 cases of contagion by the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease COVID-19, have been detected in the Region, and there are currently 27 active positive cases, of which 24 on the island of São Miguel, two on Terceira Island and one on Pico Island.

The prevention and containment measures of a pandemic must be maintained and strengthened, whenever possible, by citizens and organizations from the public, private and social sectors.

The Regional Health Authority reiterates the need to comply with all the recommendations already made public in this regard, especially that, in case of symptoms, do not look for a Hospital or Health Unit, but call the Azores Health Line – 808 24 60 24.
