There are 26, especially in Alentejo. In the north, everything changed.

After weeks in which the North region dominated the map of the municipalities with the highest incidence of covid-19, the latest DGS evaluation, published yesterday, already shows a different picture. Between 7 and 20, the period analyzed to calculate the incidence of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Vimioso (Bragança) was the municipality with the highest level of contagion. But in second and third place were Castelo de Vide and Marvão, after the pandemic spread in Alentejo. There are 26 municipalities in total that remain at an extremely high risk level, with more than 960 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Both Vimioso and Castelo de Vide and Marvão, followed by Mourão and Penamacor, exceed 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Tabuaço, Gavião, Mora, Chaves and Mondim de Basto are also included among the top 10 counties with the highest level of contagion.

Porto now has an incidence of 528 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, when it reached more than 1,000. They are even more than Lisbon (509), but the difference is no longer great. And in Penafiel, in the heart of the explosion of cases in Vale do Sousa, which left the Padre Américo hospital in disuse, in this last period 507 cases were analyzed for every 100,000 inhabitants. The best example is Paços de Ferreira: for weeks it was the municipality of the country with the highest level of contagion and broke records of the second wave: it even exceeded 4 thousand cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in the analysis in 14 days and records, in these last two weeks. analyzed, 395 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, which on other occasions would be enough to propose measures. At the end of the year, the Government imposed a ban on driving on public roads throughout the country.
