Mother and children escape by car before being hit by train

This Friday, a woman and two children escaped from the collision of the car in which they were traveling, by a train in the Linha do Minho, in Seixas, Caminha.

The accident occurred when the mother of two teenagers took them to school and the car got stuck on the train track, at a level crossing in Coura de Seixas. The occupants had time to get out of the car, which in the meantime was captured by a train that was going in the direction of Valença-Porto.

According to a source from the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) in Viana do Castelo, the accident occurred at approximately 7.52 am.

The three victims were not injured, but needed assistance at the scene, as they were “emotionally shaken.”

Four operatives were mobilized to the scene of the accident with two Caminha Firefighters vehicles, a GNR patrol and a Refer representative. The line was interrupted for about an hour. Circulation resumed at approximately 8.43 am.
