More than seven thousand new cases and 59 deaths from covid-19

This Wednesday Portugal registered another 7,497 new infected by covid-19 and 59 deaths. These data presented by the epidemiological bulletin of the General Health Directorate (DGS) represent new highs verified since the beginning of the pandemic.

According to DGS, The high number of cases has to do with the inclusion of 3,570 accumulated cases since October 30 and that they were late reported by a laboratory in the northern region. In other words, these cases that are only now included should have been diluted in previous bulletins.

Being so, the number of cases in the last 24 hours alone is 3927 new infections by covid-19, that is, 1,331 cases more than on Tuesday.

As for deaths, this is the new record since the start of the pandemic, surpassing the record of last Monday, when 46 deaths from covid-19 were reported.

Hospitals can suspend non-urgent activities.
