Portugal now counts 63 more deaths related to covid-19, the highest number of cases in a single day since the beginning of the pandemic, and 4,096 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus, according to the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Since Sunday, 129 more people have entered the infirmary, with 2,651 hospitalizations now, and 13 more in intensive care units, where there are 391 people.

The DGS epidemiological situation bulletin indicates that of the 63 deaths registered in the last 24 hours, 33 occurred in the North region, 22 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, five in the Center region, one in Alentejo, one in in the Algarve and one in the Region. Autonomous Madeira.

The country now has 78,378 active cases, 1,731 more than Sunday, and the total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic stands at 183,420.

The number of people who have already died from covid-19 is now 2,959, of which 1,991 were 80 years or older.

The DGS also says that health authorities have 90,088 contacts under surveillance, 418 fewer than Sunday, and that 2,302 patients have been reported to have recovered in the last 24 hours, out of a total of 102,083 since the start of the pandemic.
