The Minister of Defense, João Gomes Cravinho, ordered this Friday to annul the directive of his ministry on “inclusive language” that prohibited expressions of the Armed Forces such as “behave like a man”, “stop being crazy” and “do not be a girl “, which also requires the use of gender-neutral terms in official written communications.

According to this Friday’s order, João Gomes Cravinho claims to have had knowledge of the letters from his secretary general on the Directive for the Use of Non-Discriminatory Language, addressed to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Army, Navy and Force. Aerial. “Because it lacks superior approval, and because it is a working document that does not show an adequate state of maturity, the aforementioned letters should be considered canceled”, João Gomes Cravinho signed.

Friday’s dispatch is addressed to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the three military branches and the ministry services.
