Maritime unrest leaves seven districts under orange warning as of Monday

In five of the seven districts mentioned on the IPMA website, the orange advisory is in effect between 00:00 on Monday and 11:00 on Tuesday.

These are Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Porto and Viana do Castelo, districts of continental Portugal in which the IPMA points to northwest waves of five to seven meters, reaching a maximum height of 12 to 14 meters.

In Leiria and Lisbon, the orange warning for the agitation of the sea, with northwest waves from five to 13 meters high, is in effect between 06:00 on Monday and 11:00 on Tuesday.

Regarding cold weather, the districts of Aveiro, Beja, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Évora, Guarda, Leiria, Portalegre, Vila Real and Viseu are under yellow warning until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.

The districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda are under yellow warning also due to snow, between 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and 9:00 a.m. on Monday.

IPMA warnings range from red (the most serious), orange, and yellow.

The orange warning indicates a moderate to high risk climate.

At the same time, the Spanish meteorological agency reports today that the storm “Bela”, now located over Iceland, has intensified in the last hours and its effects could occur from Sunday to Wednesday on the Peninsula. Iberia and the Balearic Islands.
