At the II National Convention of Chega, in Évora, a video of Marine Le Pen was shown before the suspension of the works, around 2:00 p.m., which will resume at 3:30 p.m.
The president of the National Union said that Portugal, “the brave and proud Portugal, will find its place” with Chega.
“Allow me, therefore, to wish favorable winds for this journey to a new world that we will continue together,” he said.
According to Marine Le Pen, the Chega militants found “a great political leader and even a true statesman”, who, said “sure”, will lead this Portuguese party “to victory”
Earlier, several foreign guests spoke, namely Gerolf Annemans, chairman of the Identity and Democracy (ID) political group of the European Parliament, Chega’s European “family”.
With an intervention against “the great leaders of the European Union (EU)”, who want to transform this organization into the “only superstate of the continent”, Gerolf Annemans warned that, if this happened, the “powerful nations” of Europe would become mere “poor provinces”.
“The EU has become an institution that crushes the people in the member states,” he said.
The ID president also criticized the way the EU deals with “mass migration from Europe to the continent.”
“Under the EU government, mass migration has become a historical icon of wild migration. We have to resist this chaos. We are the resistance, ”he said, under a“ rain ”of palm trees.
The ID leader also argued that “the resistance”, which includes leaders such as Matteo Salvini or Marine Le Pen, is proud to have Chega and André Ventura “as strong allies in the Iberian Peninsula.”
