According to a note published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic on the Internet, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa “today offered his deepest condolences to the relatives of the co-pilot,” Maximiliano Plaza Bretón, a Spanish national, who was “injured as a result of the tragic plane crash “. According to the newspaper A voz da Galiza, the 38-year-old man was found dead today at his home in Babilafuente, in the province of Salamanca, where he was recovering from the serious injuries caused by the Canadair plane crash on August 8. .

The crash of the plane that was fighting a fire in the Peneda-Gerês National Park, in Lindoso, Ponte da Barca municipality, in the Viana do Castelo district, caused the death of the 65-year-old Portuguese pilot.

On the day of the accident, the co-pilot was transferred to the Braga Hospital and on August 15 he was transferred to the Virgen de la Vega hospital in Salamanca, where he was finally operated, says Faro de Vigo.
