Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who is running for a second term as president of the Republic, came in third place in the order of names on the ballots for the presidential elections on January 24, with candidate Ana Gomes in last place.

The first name that appears on the ballots is that of Eduardo Batista, followed by that of the blocking MEP Marisa Matias, and that of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, according to the result of this Monday’s draw held in the Constitutional Court (TC).

Fourth is the name of the leader of the Liberal Initiative Tiago Mayan, followed by the leader of Chega, André Ventura, the leader of the RIR, “Tino de Rans”, the communist leader João Ferreira and, finally, the diplomat Ana Gomes.

Manuel da Costa Andrade, president of the TC, and Vítor Mendes, secretary of Justice, led the process, before representatives of the different candidates.

The Ratton Palace judges have January 4 to verify the admissibility of the proposals, that is, the minimum number of 7,500 valid voter signatures.

An appeal period follows for applications deemed ineligible or irregular, and the final decision is made until January 11.
