Madeira today registered 106 new positive cases of Covid-19, so that the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) now has 4,501 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the regional territory.
These are six imported cases (5 from the Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley and 1 from France) and 100 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with contacts or contexts of positive cases. Epidemiological investigations of the cases are still ongoing.
Also according to the Regional Health Directorate (DRS) there are two new deaths to report since yesterday, so RAM now accounts for a total of 34 deaths associated with COVID-19.
122 cases recovered in the last 24 hours
It should be noted that in the last 24 hours the Region has more than 122 recovered cases to report, thus counting 2,582 recovered cases of Covid-19.
Likewise, according to the DRS epidemiological bulletin there are 1,885 active cases, of which 111 are imported cases and 1,774 are locally transmitted.
Regarding the isolation of active cases, it should be noted that 73 people are hospitalized at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital (66 people in the Polyvalent Unit and 7 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to Covid-19) and 45 people are in isolation in a dedicated hotel unit, the rest staying in their own accommodation.
In total, there are 184 new situations that are currently being studied by the health authorities, which are related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM, EPERAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
As of January 25, 2021, 5,961 suspected cases of Covid-19 were counted in RAM (of which 1,460 were unconfirmed).
It should also be added that in the context of the ongoing epidemiological investigation in a Residential Structure for the Elderly in the public sector, where 20 positive cases of Covid-19 have been identified (13 residents and 7 employees) to date, 326 people are under research, which will be tested from tomorrow.
The total number of contacts for the SRS24 Line (800 24 24 20) now amounts to 33,634 calls and the Psychological Support Line of the Regional Health Department (291 212 399) has 2,653 calls to date.
Regarding the active surveillance of the contacts of positive cases, 2,166 people are being monitored by the health authorities of the different municipalities of Madeira and Porto Santo.
Regarding the surveillance of travelers, 4,612 people are also being accompanied by the authorities, using the MadeiraSafe application.
Regarding the PCR tests for COVID-19 screening performed in RAM, it is highlighted that:
In the context of the passenger control operation at RAM ports and airports, a cumulative total of 152,404 test harvests to be reported to COVID-19 carried out until 5:00 p.m. today.
In total, to date, the samples processed in the SESARAM, EPERAM Clinical Pathology laboratory for PCR tests amount to 266,143.
