Madeira registers 14 new cases of covid-19 – DNOTICIAS.PT

According to IASaúde, today there are 14 new positive cases to report, and Madeira now has 485 confirmed cases of covid-19. There are 13 imported cases (5 from Poland, 3 from the United Kingdom, 2 from Spain, 2 from the North of Portugal and 1 from the Netherlands) and 1 case of local transmission, associated with a recently diagnosed case in the community.

There are currently 197 active cases, of which 167 are imported, identified in the context of surveillance activities implemented at the Madeira airport and 30 are cases of local transmission.

In addition, there are 26 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities, 1 from the airport control operation and 26 related to contacts with positive cases or situations reported to the SRS24 line. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

One of the cases under study refers to an adult who will have as close contact two children who attend an educational establishment in the municipality of Funchal. The affected children remain in prophylactic isolation and the school has activated its contingency plan.

Regarding the residence of active cases, 148 are non-residents and 49 are residents in the Region.
