The southern coast and the mountainous regions of Madeira will have a red alert on Monday, the most serious, due to the forecast of periods of rain or heavy showers, according to the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera.

On the North Coast, the red alert runs between 12:00 and 15:00 and in the mountainous regions between 11:00 and 17:00.

Before, from 09:00, these two regions will be under orange alert, the second most serious, also due to rain.

The north coast of Madeira and the island of Porto Santo will also be under an orange warning (the second most serious) between 09:00 and 15:00 on Monday due to rain.

With the exception of the North Coast, the rest of the archipelago will be under yellow alert on Monday, due to the strong wind that can reach 90 kilometers per hour in the mountainous regions and 70 km / h in the rest.

The IPMA red alert corresponds to a “meteorological situation of extreme risk” and people are asked to keep “periodically informed of the evolution of meteorological conditions and follow the guidelines of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC)” .
