Luís Filipe Vieira suspends all campaign actions – Benfica

The candidacy of Luís Filipe Vieira to the presidency of Benfica announced this Wednesday the suspension of all campaign initiatives planned for the next few days, after the recent measures announced by the government in the context of the entry into force of the State of Calamidade.

“Due to the reinforcement of the measures promulgated by the government to combat covid-19, which come into effect at midnight today, and given the increase in cases registered in the last 24 hours, the candidacy of Luís Filipe Vieira, in compliance of the newly enacted directives, he decided to suspend all scheduled campaign initiatives.

Everyone’s safety comes first and, considering the high number of members who have spontaneously participated in our initiatives as well as the many who have already signed up for future initiatives, it is not possible to maintain planned campaign actions without questioning the measures imposed by the executive.

In this sense, all the actions of Luís Filipe Vieira’s candidacy planned for the next two weeks will be rethought and rescheduled, that is, privileging the use of digital tools in contact with the partners of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

No cell phone call, videoconference or social network can replace the privilege of direct contact with members, as evidenced by the extraordinary expressions of support we receive throughout the country, in the more than 4,000 kilometers already traveled. But the moment demands a responsible attitude from all of us, which puts the general welfare before any other particular interest. ”
