74 events were registered by the Civil Protection services in the municipality of Leiria, between zero hours on Friday and ten in the morning this Sunday. They accounted for approximately 40% of the total 192 incidents reported district-wide after the passage of subtropical cyclone Alpha.

Among the hardest hit are the municipalities of Marinha Grande, with 23 occurrences, Alcobaça (21), Peniche (19) and Pombal (17).

With less than ten occurrences, Figueiró dos Vinhos (7), Ansião (6), Alvaiázere and Caldas da Rainha (5 each), Nazaré and Pedrógão Grande (4 each), Porto de Mós (3), Batalha and Castanheira appear Pear (2 each).

Tree falls (114 in total) were the ones that mobilized the most resources (381 operations and 131 vehicles) throughout the district, with 47 falls of structures, 15 floods, 13 road clearings and three earthworks.

In the municipality of Leiria, 41 trees fall and 20 structures, seven floods, three massive movements and three road clearings.

According to the balance calculated today with the District Civil Protection Command, the cutting operations, removal of trees and structures and cleaning, which are still in progress, have already involved 622 operators and 224 vehicles.

The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) reported yesterday that the Leiria district it was until yesterday morning, Saturday, the most affected nationwide, after counting 143 occurrences between the hours of Friday and 8 am on Saturday.

Leiria without public lighting

Several towns in the municipality were without electricity on Friday due to the fall of the electricity supply networks and damage to the PT, situations that have been resolved in the meantime.

Last Saturday night, part of the city center was without public lighting, that is, in the areas of the Luís de Camões garden, Largo 5 de Outubro, Largo do Papa and Marachão.
