After the news issued yesterday by TVI, that there is an outbreak of Covid-19, in the Hospital Center of Leiria (CHL), the health institution came to correct today, in a statement, part of the information advanced by the channel television.

The CHL denies that two users have been “admitted to Medicine II without taking the Sars-CoV-2 test”, and that “this will be the source of the current Covid-19 outbreak” in that service.

“CHL ensures that protocol has been adhered to and user testing has been performed and reinforces that testing is ‘always’ performed on ‘all’ users admitted to CHL,” the statement stated.

“It is regrettable that the CHL has not been confronted by TVI with this information and therefore has not had the opportunity to deny it. The pandemic situation is enough, much less the transmission of false information, which only contributes to disturbing users and users. discourage them from going to health services when they need it, which can lead to very serious situations “

15 health professionals and 12 patients were infected in this outbreak. To minimize the impact of this situation, the CHL Administration suspended the entry of visitors, companions and caregivers until November 14.

Exceptions:
1 – In the Pediatric Service, only one companion is allowed in, during the current hours (24/24). This companion must take the Sars-CoV-2 test and remain for the entire period of hospitalization in the CHL.

2 – In Pediatric Emergencies, only one companion is allowed.

3 – In the case of the Special Unit for Neonatal and Pediatric Care (UCEP), the father’s visit is also allowed during the current hours for Torre Poente (7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday).

4 – In the Gynecological / Obstetric Emergency Service, a companion is allowed, if the clinical team so wishes, to accompany the pregnant woman, without the possibility of replacement. All activities with entities outside the CHL are also suspended, as well as internships, scheduled to begin on November 2; participation of health professionals in courses, seminars, meetings, workshops or training courses abroad; religious ceremonies in CHL chapels; childbirth preparation appointments; and the prenatal guided visits circuit.

The document added that the Local Coordinating Group of the Program for Prevention and Control of Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (GCL-PPCIRA) is evaluating the origin of the outbreak and the chain of transmission, highlighting that these “are still unknown.”

Likewise, the CHL states that all appropriate measures were taken to safeguard the health and safety of professionals and patients, and that all established protocols were followed, in conjunction with public health entities.
