There are no internal conflicts at Benfica. Everyone talks to each other and everyone knows what to do. This is how Jorge Jesús responded when asked about the incidents that occurred after the defeat of the “incarnated” in the Super Cup, in which Luisão, who was on the substitute bench as technical director Tiago Pinto, entered “recovery mode” at the end of the game, targeting the Benfica players.

Jesús responded in the same tone about alleged conversations with Luís Filipe Vieira and Rui Costa in which they expressed their disgust for the coach’s work. “I can’t answer fabricated questions about things that don’t exist. Every day we talk about Benfica, we all know what we want and where we are going, I cannot respond to manufactured things, I only respond to factual things. I do not come here to talk about the history of the old women ”, he reinforced.
After the defeat to the Super Cup, Benfica returns to action in the Portuguese League, receiving the last classified, Portimonense, in Luz. And a victory is essential, says Jesús, to be close to the Sporting leader. “By winning, we are still in second place. Motivation is always the maximum, it is the main objective, ours and that of our rivals ”, says the coach, acknowledging that the ‘reds’ were already better than they are now.
“If you take stock of the first 10 games, of course we have already been better than we are today, we know what we want, Benfica has a structure in which we all know our responsibilities. Two months ago I was undefeated with five victories in five days, that of not being so well for a month ”, underlines the Benfica coach, reinforcing that the team has the capacity to reach the“ artistic note ”.
“The artistic note was in some games, not reaching very high levels. The team has arguments and the capacity to have a better quality football. In Portugal it is more difficult, the teams worry about being closed and taking time out of the game, we have to find arguments for this game idea. Benfica are looking for first place because they were in first place. It does not matter to make comparisons, we want to play better, there is only one ahead and we have a lot of time to get back there. Now the artistic note is not very important because there are no fans, it is more valuable when the stadium is full ”.
