João Medeiros, assistant in the Football Leaks case, revealed this Wednesday, in the third session of the trial, that the Public Ministry (MP) used an email within the scope of the EDP process stolen from PLMJ.

According to the lawyer, who was heard this Wednesday by the panel of judges this afternoon in the Central Criminal Court of Lisbon, said email was cited in a footnote to a response from the MP to a challenge presented by João Medeiros in the rental process. Excessive EDP charges.

This is a communication between João Medeiros – who represents the president of EDP, António Mexia, and the president of EDP Renováveis, João Manso Neto – and also the lawyer Ricardo Sá Fernandes, representative of Manuel Pinho.

EDP’s over-renting process has been investigated by DCIAP for about eight years.

According to João Medeiros, the MP was only able to access this communication after the disclosure of his electronic mailbox on the blog “Mercado de Benfica”, after the computer system of his former law firm had been the target of intrusion at the end of 2018, a crime attributed to Rui Pinto, creator of the Football Leaks platform.

Rui Pinto, 31, is responsible for a total of 90 crimes: 68 for improper access, 14 for violation of correspondence, six for illegitimate access, directed at entities such as Sporting, Doyen, the PLMJ law firm, the Portuguese Federation of Soccer and the Attorney General’s Office, and also for computer sabotage against Sporting’s SAD and for extortion, in the form of an attempt.

The creator of Football Leaks has been free since August 7, “for his collaboration” with the Judicial Police (PJ) and his “critical sense”, but is, for security reasons, inserted in the witness protection program in an undisclosed location and under police protection.
