“We tried everything to force João Almeida, but the climb was not hard enough and he did not hesitate. We did not give up, because stage 18 will be important”, considered Kelderman, a Sunweb cyclist who is in the 2nd position of the general, 17 seconds of Portuguese.

Also mentioning yesterday that Rubén Guerreiro recovered the blue jersey, remaining today again as mountain leader.

– Today in the 18th stage, the Portuguese, 22 years old, will defend the pink jersey in full ‘Cima Coppi’, the highest point, when passing through Passo dello Stelvio – special category that precedes the arrival in the top of 1st category – at 2,758 meters above sea level.
