“It was at the CDS-PP where I met the worst in society.” Former party leadership candidate announces parade – O Jornal Económico

The Christian Democratic activist Carlos Meira, who ran for the presidency of the CDS-PP in the January Congress, announced the party’s parade on Tuesday. Without clarifying the reasons that led him to leave the CDS-PP after almost 20 years of militancy, Carlos Meira says that it was among the Christian Democrats where he met “the worst of society and human nature”, but guarantees that he never achieved ” to silence”.

“Today, I finish a cycle. I joined the CDS and I walked away from party politics, ”Carlos Meira wrote in a post on his Facebook page. “Fortunately, citizen participation does not end with political parties, I think this will increasingly be the way,” he adds.

The former president of the CDS-PP council of Viana do Castelo explains, in the same publication, that the CDS-PP was “a house”, where he met “fabulous people” and friends he has been with “for life”, and that Almost 20 Years of political activity were “a huge and deep learning”, but it does not clarify what motivated the break with the party headed by Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos.

“At a time when anyone writes books, I am not going to write a book, but who knows if one day I will not ‘open the book’, unfortunately it was also in party politics and in the CDS where I met the worst of society , the worst of human nature. ”, Emphasizes the militant of Viana do Castelo.

Born in Viana do Castelo and a CDS-PP activist since the age of 19, the former president of the CDS-PP council of Viana do Castelo stood out for, in the 2018 Congress, having received harsh criticism of the leadership of Assunção Cristas, who accused of “not respecting the bases of the party.” He requested the leadership of the CDS-PP in January, to give a voice to the militants “oppressed by a centralism and current bacoco that abounds in Portugal.”

He ended up resigning from the race for the presidency of the CDS-PP, without declaring any support for the other candidates (Francisco Rodrigues dos Santos, João Almeida and Filipe Lobo d’Ávila). “This is one of the most important moments of our party.
