“Benfica TV is incredible. It’s easier to listen to something on Porto Canal”

Former person in charge of the communication of Benfica angry at the silence of Benfica TV on the elections

Less than a month before the election for the governing bodies of Benfica, the official television channel of the red emblem is silent on the issue of the elections and João Malheiro, former head of communication for the eagles, goes public to show his revolt with this moment in the history of Benfica.

“I am deeply critical. And I say it without shyness. It is incredible what Benfica TV does. It is my television as a partner. [A Benfica TV] He completely ignores the elections, ”lamented João Malheiro, underlining that the lack of information on the topic of the elections on the club’s channel displeases him.

“I’m not even talking about debates anymore. I’m talking about giving a voice to the candidates. It’s incredible. It’s a case of saying that it is easier, perhaps, to listen to something, I don’t know, on Porto Canal, as incredible as it may seem on Benfica TV. ”Said the former Benfica communication officer.

João Malheiro also highlights that the elections are an important point in the life of the club and Benfica TV shows an “absolute silence”, something that the former head of embodied communication sees as “incredible”.

“It is an attack on the democratic culture of the club,” he said, recalling that even “in the time of fascism, Benfica gave great examples of democracy and now that does not happen.”

What João Malheiro also does not like is the position of Luís Filipe Vieira in refusing to hold discussions with the other Benfica candidates.

The current president and reelector recently assumed that he will not hold debates because they are “noise” and “will not clarify to anyone”, a situation that Malheiro criticizes.

“Luís Filipe Vieira does not want debates and will not debate with anyone. It is his position. Naturally, I am not in favor,” João Malheiro criticized regretfully.

The former head of communication for Benfica also pointed out that a debate, contrary to what Luís Filipe Vieira understands, is not noise and explains why.

“Whoever is watching draws their conclusions,” said João Malheiro, who said that even with possible personal attacks at those times, the partners “would know how to draw their conclusions.”

On CMTV, Malheiro also mentioned that he does not understand how someone can advance to an election without debating with the other candidates.

Benfica’s elections are scheduled for October 30 and, in addition to Luís Filipe Vieira, João Noronha Lopes, Rui Gomes da Silva, Francisco Benítez and Bruno Costa Carvalho will also compete.
