IRS Refunds will be lower due to withholding fees

OR finance minister, Mário Rye, recalled, this Tuesday, that the amount of IRS it will be lower this year due to lower retention rates that were applied last year. So far, 633 million euros have been paid in refunds.

In an interview with TSF, Rye i remembered that “This year we have smaller refunds, because last year’s withholding rates were reduced (…) we have to take this into account when comparing in euros”said the finance minister.

Despite admitting that the rate of delivery of the statements of IRS was higher at the beginning of the campaign, compared to the same period last year, Rye clarifies that the pace has slowed down and “Right now there are fewer returns delivered than last year.”

The data indicates that the average value of refunds processed in âscope this year’s campaign IRS (for the income obtained in 2019) is around 971 euros.

The presentation of the annual IRS started on 1 April and, since then, the Finance Portal has registered the presentation of 3,265,742 statements. Last year, 5,831,280 returns were filed.
