“As for losses, I calculate between 40 and 50 thousand euros in appliances and furniture, because there is nothing left,” said Simone Teixeira, in front of her parents’ house, in the lower area of ​​Ponta Delgada, with the water still abundant inside. and surroundings.

The house in question was one of the most affected by the floods, and there was also evidence of another, where no one lived, which was completely destroyed.

“The house is completely destroyed inside, there was nothing left. My parents managed to get out in time, because they saw that the flow through the rock was too great,” he explained, also indicating that the family had already warned, at the time of the fateful ’20 de Fevereiro ‘to the authorities for the fact that the stream deviated from the natural course.

Simone Teixeira believes that “responsibilities must be determined.”
