The National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed) today recommended not to buy or use masks from the manufacturer Shantou, as they do not meet the requirements of the European Union.

The alert was made known on the official website of Infarmed, in which it is said that if these masks are detected, the institution must be informed.

Infarmed explains that the German authorities have prohibited the marketing and have ordered the masks for clinical use from the manufacturer “Shantou T&K Medical equipment factory Co., Ltd”, which do not meet the requirements established in the European Union Regulation 2017/745 on devices. doctors.

In Portugal there is no evidence of the marketing of these masks, but Infarmed justifies the alert given “that there is free movement of products in the European Economic Area”.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the use of a mask is mandatory since the end of October in closed spaces with several people, in commercial or service establishments, in public buildings, in schools and kindergartens, in public transport and in nearby places . outdoors whenever an adequate physical distance cannot be guaranteed.
