GNR imposed 395 fines in the space of just 10 days, as part of actions to combat illegal caravans and wild camps developed in the Algarve.

Between 26 and 31 of last month, the military carried out inspection actions in the municipalities of Aljezur and Vila do Bispo, specifically in the area of the Southwest Alentejano and Costa Vicentina Natural Park.

According to the GNR, cited by the CM, 200 offenses were detected, of which 164 were for wild camping, as well as for motorhome and illegal parking in prohibited places and 36 for non-compliance with the traffic sign regulations.

Previously, on August 21, 122 caravans and campers had already been fined in these two municipalities on the Costa Vicentina.

However, on August 22 and 23, the GNR detected 73 infractions in the municipality of Lagoa, of which 54 were for wild camping and caravanning and illegal parking in prohibited areas and 19 for non-compliance with traffic signs.

“Camping and wild caravanning is an identified problem that constitutes a factor in the destruction of habitats, some of which are protected, in addition to representing an illegal occupation,” emphasizes the GNR.
