Folding smartphones are a clear bet on the part of some brands. Although most consumers do not see these types of products as attractive or even practical, the truth is that the brands consider the launches as a success considering expectations. Huawei already has two folding models on the market, Mate X and Mate Xs, and another could soon arrive.
A new patent reveals a foldable Mate with new camera features.
Huawei appears to be committed to creating different solutions for the smartphone segment. A few days ago, a patent appeared for a smartphone with a sliding screen on the side. The concept is somewhat reminiscent of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, but the screen can be moved to expand the entire screen, like a tablet.
In a way, this concept seems similar to what TCL already unveiled last March.
Huawei folding smartphone with periscope camera for Zoom
It was through the LetsGoDigital website that a new patent registered by Huawei and approved by the Chinese entity was launched. In this way, several color images and some details of what could be the future folding smartphone from Huawei are revealed.
The way to interact with the smartphone is similar to what is already known from the two Mate X and X already launched by the brand.
In this case, as in the previous ones, there is also no camera placed in the area of the main screen, that is, to capture selfies it will be necessary to use the external screen. In addition to this detail, it seems that this model will have larger screens than the Mate Xs.
Another feature to highlight is the camera module. In this module, four cameras are seen, one of which is square, which indicates that it will be a periscope camera to photograph with a large zoom. Possibly, this module will be similar to the one that comes with the Huawei P40 Pro.
The new foldable Mate is expected to launch in the last quarter of the year, probably in October, when the brand is also expected to launch the Mate 40.
